From HSE Worries to Total Confidence

When HSE raised concerns about the dust extraction system at B Thorntons Bakery, the team needed a fast, reliable solution. After months of searching with no success, they reached out to Dust Arrest - and everything began to turn around.

We assessed the site and recommended a tailored, compliant system that fit both their needs and budget. With a tight HSE deadline in place, our team delivered hands-on support from start to finish, making the entire process smooth, clear, and stress-free.

“From the minute that I spoke to Kelly, the whole process had just been flawless - so easy, so reassuring. I didn’t feel as though I was being sold something I didn’t need... it was about what was suitable for us.”

Practical Support That Delivers Real Results

When il Fornaio switched insurers, they needed a reliable partner to help meet strict compliance and safety standards - including sourcing A-TEX rated vacuums for flour dust control. That’s when they found Dust Arrest.

Invisible, Explosive, Ignored.
What is Atex?

ATEX is the legal framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres, and flour dust is one of the most explosive. Classified by different zones we’ve made it easy for you to know if you’re at risk.

Zone Risk Level Bakery Location
20 Constant dust Silos & mixers
21 Dust during normal use Lines & hoppers
22 Occasional dust risk Packaging & storage

If your vacuum isn’t ATEX-rated, it could spark a fire or explosion in your bakery.

The same goes for sugar, spices, and other fine powders. If you’re cleaning with the wrong vacuum or tools, you’re putting your team and business at serious risk. ATEX vacuums are built for these conditions. They’re designed to safely handle explosive dust, without risking disaster.

Warning:
Even cleaning flour with the wrong vacuum can trigger ignition.

Atex Is Made Simple
With Dust Arrest

Just like the fire triangle, that represents the flammability conditions (and of consequent explosion), for liquid and gaseous combustibles, it is common to refer to “the explosion pentagon” when it comes to dusts.

It only takes 20g/m³ of flour dust to trigger an explosion. That’s less than a handful.
